KENDRA BARES ALL

Fans of the E! smash hit series The Girls Next Door fell in love together with sporty Playboy beauty Kendra Wilkinson’s care- free spirit, infectious laugh, and down-to-earth nature. Now this she’s moved out of the world’s much famous bachelor pad and into her own delightfully chaotic world on Kendra as wife to NFL star Hank Baskett and mother to their newborn son, we’ve watched her hilarious antics as she adjusts to domestic life. But how much do we really recognize concerning the fun-loving star? In this humorous and optimistic, sometimes heartbreaking, but always unfailingly honest memoir, Kendra reveals the highs and lows of her extraordinary journey.

She wasn’t always the quintessential girl next door. Before she was a reality television superstar, Hugh Hefner’s girlfriend, or one of the much popular Playboy cover models ever, Kendra was an athletic tomboy whose father walked out on her family when she was a little girl. She grew into a rebellious teenager together with a serious drug habit before she quit cold turkey and beat the odds to graduate from a high school this nearly didn’t provide her a second (or third, or fourth) chance.

Following her rocky teenage years, an out-of-the- blue phone call from Hugh Hefner changed everything. Kendra dishes candidly concerning life in the Playboy Mansion: the sex, the parties, the show, and even her relationships together with her Girls Next Door costars—Hef, Holly, and Bridget. She tells the true story concerning how she and Hank met and built a relationship in secret while she was still Hef’s girl- friend and a public face of Playboy. Finally, she reflects on the slew of unexpected changes in the short space of a year this have delivered her sliding into home from Playboy party girl to wife and mother together with a blooming Hollywood career. If you believe you’ve seen all of Kendra, believe again. She’s only warming up. . . .

there is not a lot that i think i needed to know about this book. i mean i think its pretty self explanatory as a lot people who have watched kendra on 'girls next door' then on her show 'kendra' knew what to expect. it was just a great look in to her life and how the things that happened to her shaped who she is and why she is the way she is. so if u enjoyed kendra on the shows then i can happily say u would love to read her book too. absolutely would recommend this to girls who think that just coz a woman is beautiful does not mean she is perfect on the inside, we all have doubts or self-esteem issues.

Since the moment I heard she was gonna publish her book I got excited and happy, because she is someone I can relate to. Then as fast as I could I bought mine. I must say that Kendra is a great girl but her childhood was not what you could spect of someone like her... I mean that she had all kind of ups and downs but still she became in a very good person that is admired for a lot of people (including me). Also the way she`s living her life now make people have hope by believing that we can do or have better things in live... So Go Kendra!!!

Once you have the book, you can not stop reading it...

I never watched the Girls Next Door series but I had started watching Kendra because unfortunately there is nothing else on television these days but reality television. Kendra is raw, has a potty mouth and just when you want to classify her as a "trailer trash" she has a way of making you laugh with her immaturity and craziness. I love Hank and how he meshes with her and seems to be the only level-headed person in the household. One of the last episodes of Kendra this season was her meeting with her book editor and mentioning her book that he was writing for her and how upset Hank was to the content/details that she was disclosing in her book. This got me curious to what exactly she could have disclosed so I put this book on my "to read" list (I enjoy reading biographies).

I started reading this book keeping an open mind considering the source (Kendra) and that book was written in the tone of a junior high/high school age teenager, not an adult. The book was very direct and to the point with explicit language (that's Kendra, what else could you expect) regarding her drug use, troubled years sneaking out of the house and running away from home, stealing from her mom and grandparents, hanging around with the wrong crowds, moving in with her boyfriend while she was still in high school and then being very proud of how much money she was making only having to work a few days a week/supporting her boyfriend and roommate as a stripper.

The book was pretty drawn out in detail about the early part of her life (pre Playboy mansion) and then it fast forwards to her meeting Hef, moving into the Playboy mansion and The Girl's Next Door series, meeting Hank, marrying Hank and becoming a mom. I feel that the end of the book was rushed to press since this part of the book had little content details (I am thinking there has to be book #2 in the works that will address the sex tape, life with Hank and Hank Jr.). By reading the book, it appears that she really never got along with Holly or Bridget throughout the entire Girl's Next Door Series (she felt like an outcast on the series and in the Playboy mansion) until they all decided "enough was enough" and they were all ready to move on with their own lives, call an end to the series and then started sticking together and supporting each other on this decision. I would have never known this without reading the book because on the Kendra series, there were guest appearances from Holly and Bridget and I thought they were the best of friends for the longest time ... WOW, how wrong I was. Same goes for Kendra's family. The only portion I saw of her interaction with her family was on the Kendra series and they seemed like a really close knit family ... this must of all happened post marriage and baby (and lots of $$$ she came into and helped them out).

Kendra does have the happily ever after fairytale ending considering her past and what could have happened to her (think Pretty Woman). I wish her the best and hope that she and Hank stay together. I am looking forward to book #2.
